Gordon 9th September 2017

After I retired from being a freelance car designer (Range Rover, Jaguar XE) I became a bus driver for the charity villagebus.com. On my very first afternoon after taking the ladies from the villages, shopping, I reached Middle Barton. I heard Margot's South African accent as soon as she got on the bus. I used to live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa when I worked for Fords. (I love South Africa). It was cold and raining when I got into Middle Barton. Margot asked me to stop by the hairdressers. I could see she was carrying two bags of shopping and she had problems walking, so I suggested I could drive round to her house, but Margot being Margot refused. I stopped the bus, shouting goodbye and she started to walk away. Before I could pull away, somebody was banging on the door. So immediately I thought of the new passenger and press a button to open the folding doors. To my utter surprise and amazement there was a large man and his wife and dog straining at the lead screaming and shouting abuse at me. You can't stop here outside my house! Why don't you F...ing stop further up the road? I timidly replied that this old lady can't walk very far. He then screamed at Margot Get a F..ing taxi next time. Margot returned carrying both bags and tried to explain to the man that she couldnt afford a taxi on her pension. He totally lost it, and continue to abuse and shout at her. Margot quietly walked away. After returning home I, and 4 others put in a complaint to the police. He was charged with causing an affray, and was fined £90 and cautioned to keep the peace. The following week I suggested to Margot that I drop her at her house. She was very nervous but insisted that I drop her in the same place. She was a very brave lady. The idiot moved out of the village. Gordon Brown
